Treasure and Trains and Croquet

DS headed back to Paraparaumu with HS and RS to help with wedding prep. Our tribe of 6 headed to Masterton to hopefully witness some sheep shearing.

After a quick coffee and snack next door, we headed into the Sheep Shed, only to find out they very rarely shear sheep there. It was just a static sheep museum of little interest. Very nice employee from Preston, UK chatted to us for a while, but we decided to go geocaching instead of paying to look at sheep exhibits.

We did a fun geocache in Queen Elizabeth Park. Then the kids and DC rode the train and MC rode a pedal boat.

Then a multi-stage geocache that took us past the croquet fields!

DS returned from dropping off HS and RS...that's a 3 hour round trip, about an hour of it on treacherous mountain roads. Worse yet, he came back in the Jeep, and one front wheel brake started catching on the descent. As he put it, when he applied the brake, it would veer sharply one way and when he released the brake, it would veer sharply the other way. I can't imagine how scary that must be on the windy, narrow mountain road!

He limped back to the cottages, and then headed with us over to The Tin Hut, just a couple of miles down the road, where HS and NT treated us to a beautiful meal.
