Quad Biking

Today's post brought to you by guest blogger DC. The regular blogger, LC, didn't go quad biking due to an overwhelming lack of enthusiasm.

You might notice a slight change in blogging style..,

Drove to Wainuiomata.

Came to locked gate, waited 10 minutes, no-one there. Drove further up road to dead end, turned round, returned to gate at 2:50pm...Nigel waiting saying he'd been delayed by cruise passengers departing. OK driving up gravel road, 4km? Sure! Then realized it was a vertical road more than a horizontal one. Barely made it up, car slipping, vertical drop offs on either side.
Got to top after long time to find a house on top of the hill. Wind blowing 50mph. Went into house, paid. He built the house himself, hauling lumber from nearby trees.

Got ready, showed us how bikes work. Did test run round track. Set off. Went across ridge line, through lots of cow pats, and down to the beach, where we had lunch. Went back along river. At river crossing, SC and DC both got soaked by going through a tad too fast. Everyone somewhat spattered with cow manure/mud. DS made unfortunate decision to try to lick his glasses clean.

Then up the mountain along winding narrow pathways, and arrived back at house. Total 4 hours. Got cleaned up, went home.
